Seán Boylan is a unique character, demonstrated in the fact he is the only person to hold the title 'Freeman of Meath'. Having played hurling for Meath, Sean then went on to spend 23 years as the manager of the Meath Gaelic football team, during which time they won four All-Ireland Championships.He also won three National Football League titles and eight Leinster Senior Football Championships. He is one of the most successful county managers in the history of Gaelic football. We were absolutely honoured to have the inimitable Bryan Dobson launch our “Changing Times - The Allenwood Conversations” podcast in March. When I contacted him he didn’t have to think twice. He brought a graceful air to the occasion and spoke to Mary McAleese, Mary Kennedy and myself on stage with great humour and total professionalism. He had the large audience in attendance in the palm of his hand. I know him to be the definition of an honourable and decent gentleman. I and all of us at Dundara would like to wish Bryan a very happy retirement.
